St. John´s Lutheran Church
Membership Covenant
I believe the church is made up of everyone who believes that Jesus
Christ is their Lord and Savior. I now feel led by the Holy Spirit to
unite myself St. John´s around the common mission to which God
has called us to connect people with Jesus. In doing so, I commit myself
to God and to the other members the "Hand of Faith" through:
Word:
I believe that the Bible is God´s inerrant Word to us and I put
myself under the authority of His Word. I will be regular in both personal
and group study of God´s Word. (Hebrews 1:1-2; John 15:5; John 20:31;
2 Timothy 3:16;)
Worship:
With a joyful spirit I will join with other believers in weekly worship.
(Leviticus 23:3; Acts 2:42, 46; Isaiah 66:2; Psalm 26:8; Colossians
3:16)
Witness:
I will share the responsibility of my church by praying for its growth,
by inviting the unchurched to attend, by warmly welcoming those who
visit, and by regularly sharing the Good News of Jesus. (1 Corinthians
1:2; John 20:21; 1 Peter 2:9; Luke 10:2; 1 Peter 3:15)
Stewardship:
I will support the ministry of St. John´s with my time, talents,
money and influence as I manage my life for God and His purposes. (Genesis
2:15; Psalm 145:15-16; Matthew 6:33; Acts 17:28; 1 Timothy 4:4-5)
Service:
I will use the physical and spiritual gifts God has entrusted to
me to carry out the Great Commandment and the Great Commission. (Genesis
1:26; Matthew 22:37-40; Matthew 28:18-20; Colossians 1:10; Colossians
3:23-24; 1 Peter 4:10; Philippians 2:3-4,7, Ephesians 4: 11-16)
Community:
I will share in the lives of my fellow believers at St. John´s,
celebrating with those who celebrate, mourning with those who mourn, and
praying for and being prayed for. The Community of St. John´s is
best represented in small group ministry. (Romans 12:13-16, Acts 2:44-47)
